P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit Malfunction
The engine computer isn't getting a usable signal from the crankshaft position sensor – the sensor it relies on for spark and fuel timing.
Common causes
- Failed crankshaft position sensor
- Damaged wiring or connector
- Damaged reluctor (tone) ring
Symptoms
- Stalling, cutting out while driving, no-start, intermittent rough running
Can I drive with it?
Avoid driving – the engine can stall without warning, which is dangerous in traffic.
Tip: Problems are often intermittent and heat-related: the car may stall when hot and restart once it cools.
Which scanner reads it?
Any OBD2 scanner reads it.
Budget tools like the ANCEL AD310 read it; tools with live data and graphing – like the BlueDriver or OBDLink MX+ – help you find the cause. Not sure which fits you? Try the Find My Scanner quiz.
